FAIR HARVEST

MASSACHUSETTS HEALTHY INCENTIVES PROGRAM (HIP)
If you get SNAP in Massachusetts, HIP puts money back on your EBT card every time you buy local fruits and vegetables from a HIP vendor. You spend your SNAP dollars, and the same amount comes back, up to your monthly cap. It is the closest thing there is to free local produce.
HOW MUCH YOU GET
Your monthly HIP cap depends on your household size:
-
1–2 people — $40 a month
-
3–5 people — $60 a month
-
6 or more people — $80 a month
Your cap resets on the first of every month, whatever day your SNAP arrives. Unused HIP does not roll over.
HOW IT WORKS
There is no sign-up. If you live in Massachusetts and get SNAP, your household already has HIP.
Buy fruits and vegetables from a HIP vendor with your EBT card, and the money comes back onto the card.
Eligible foods are any fruits and vegetables sold by a HIP vendor — fresh, frozen, canned, dried, even seeds and seedlings — as long as they have no added salt, sugar, fat or oil.
WHERE TO SHOP
Only farmers' markets, farm stands, mobile markets and CSA farm shares process HIP. Grocery stores and convenience stores do not.
Elliot Farm, Lakeville is our farm partner. The farm stand is open daily April through November and accepts SNAP and HIP.
